How We Hung a Heavy Metal-Framed Mirror for a Client in a Fulham

Heavy Metal-Framed Mirror

Recently, we helped a client in Fulham hang a large, heavy metal-framed mirror in their corridor. Working in a narrow space with a big, weighty mirror is no easy task — it demands secure fittings and precise positioning. Here’s how we got the job done, step by step.

Step 1: Assessing the Wall and Space

Our first step was to assess the wall type and determine the best way to position the mirror. This mirror was substantial, and we made sure the wall could support its weight. Corridors often have limited space, so every detail of the installation had to be spot-on.

Step 2: Selecting Reliable Wall Plugs and Screws

The mirror fittings came included, so we didn’t need to choose those. Instead, our focus was on finding the right wall plugs and screws to secure everything to the wall. In high-traffic areas like corridors, using strong, dependable fixings is essential to ensure safety and stability.

Step 3: Measuring and Marking for Precision

We carefully measured and marked the wall to hang the mirror at the ideal height and centre it perfectly. Corridors have limited space, so even a small misalignment can be very noticeable. Using a laser level, we made sure our markings were precise and perfectly aligned.

Step 4: Drilling, Installing Wall Plugs and Checking Stability

Once we’d marked the wall, we began drilling. Using a hammer drill and right bits, we drilled deep, clean holes for the wall plugs. Keeping dust and debris to a minimum was key.

With the holes drilled, we inserted the wall plugs and secured the screws. Before hanging the mirror, we gave each fitting a test to ensure everything was firmly in place and stable.

Step 5: Lifting and Positioning the Mirror

With everything prepared, we carefully lifted the mirror into place. Heavy mirrors usually need two people to handle them safely, and this was particularly true in the corridor’s narrow space. We positioned it precisely on the fittings and double-checked that it was level.

Step 6: Final Safety Check

Once the mirror was in place, we carried out a final safety check to ensure it was fully secure. Safety is our top priority!

Why Professional Mirror Installation Matters

This Fulham project was a great reminder of the value of professional installation. Large mirrors need the right tools, fittings, and know-how to be safely hung, particularly in busy spaces where stability is essential.
