Recently West Handyman replaced a damaged interior door for our client in West Kensington with the help of an unlikely assistant – a helpful cat! Here are the steps to achieve this pawsitively delightful home improvement project:
- Assess the damage: First, examine the damaged door. Does it need to be repaired or replaced?
- Choose a New Door: Select a sturdy, sound-reducing interior door to replace the damaged one.
- Gather Materials:
- New interior door
- Screwdriver and drill
- Hinges and screws
- Measuring tape
- Level
- Hammer
- Saw (if necessary)
- Safety glasses
- Work gloves
- Cat treats (optional, but highly recommended for feline motivation) 🐾
- Remove the Old Door:
- Unscrew the hinges from the door frame.
- Carefully lift the old door off its hinges and set it aside.
- Prepare the New Door:
- Lay the new door flat on a stable surface.
- Attach the hinges to the door using screws.
- Install the New Door:
- Position the new door in the doorway.
- Align the hinges with the existing hinge cutouts in the door frame.
- Secure the hinges to the frame with screws.
Cat Assistance Mode:- Introduce your helpful cat to the project. 🐱
- Encourage them to inspect the new door, perhaps with a gentle nudge of their paw.
- Reward their efforts with treats and praise.
- Test the Door:
- Open and close the door to ensure it swings smoothly.
- Adjust the hinges if necessary.
